Hello Carney`s, I also have ancestors of Scotland, my gggggf. & ggggf were born
their. Robert Speir b. abt. 1730 in Paisley(25 miles N. of you), m. Jean ?? b. 1736,
childern; Archibald Sr. b. 15 Nov. 1762, James b. 20 July 1767 & Sarah ? b. 1772. This
family emigrated to Ballston Spa, NY, USA via Lamington, NJ in 1775. So far I have run
into 5 Robert Speir`s in this timeframe within 25 miles of Paisley. One in Ayr, 2 in
Renfrew, 1 in Glasgow & mine in Paisley (mine could be 1 of those in Renfrew don`t
have good info on those). Any possible connections before your William to Speir`s N. of
you? Any directions on where to look.
Oh yea, while your William was in Det., my Moses son of Archibald Sr., was the Sheriff
of Oakland, Co., MI
Thanks, Don Spear, MI

Bill,
I found you are connected to the Speir name in the MI surname page & was wondering
what Speir you are looking for. In researching my own family ROUECH, I found that
Charlotte Rouech married Robert E. Speir in 1883 in Bay City. I know from another
researching distant cousin that Charlotte died in 1952 in Detroit, MI. Is Robert E.
Speir, husband of Charlotte in any way connected to the Speirs you are looking for?
If so I would gladly exchange what limited information I have with you.
