Biography
Carney, John E. "Jack" Essexville, Michigan Mr. Carney passed awaysuddenly Saturday morning, May 26, 2007 at Bay Regional MedicalCenter. Age 69 years. He was born September 2, 1937 in Bay City andhas resided in this area all of his life. He was a member of St. Johnthe Evangelist Catholic Church in Essexville. He graduated fromVisitation High School and from Central Michigan University with hisMasters in Education. Mr. Carney taught school in the Bay City SchoolSystem for forty years and retired from Bay City Central High Schoolas the Athletic Director and was currently employed at Gephart FuneralHome, Inc. He was a member of the Michigan High School AthleticAssociation and the M.E.A.. Most of all Jack enjoyed vacations withhis family, traveling and cruising special places with his wife Nancyand spending time with his grandchildren who referred to him as Pipi.Jack is survived by his wife the former Nancy Huebner whom he marriedon July 1, 1961 in St. James Catholic Church. He is also survived byone son and daughter-in-law; Michael and Stephanie Carney ofEssexville, one daughter and one son-in-law; Mary Sue and EricMcFarlane of Essexville; four grand-children whom he cherished: MollyCarney, Austin, Spencer and Dylan McFarlane; two step grandchildren;Nicolette and Josh Sheller and his grand dog; Zack; one sister,Patricia (Robert) McMann, one special cousin, Carol (Jim) Carriveau;one aunt, Ruth (Frank) Fuhr all of Bay City, brothers-in-law,sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends. He was predeceasedby his mother and father; Dorothy and James Carney, onedaughter-in-law; Mary Kate Carney, his mother-in-law andfather-in-law; Helen and Harold Huebner, many aunts and uncles. TheFuneral Liturgy will be Celebrated Thursday, May 31, 2007 at 1:00p.m. at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Celebrant will beRev. Fr. Patrick O'Connor with the Rite of Committal following in St.Patrick's Catholic Cemetery. Friends may call at the Gephart FuneralHome, Inc. Tuesday from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 1:00 to5:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Mr. Carney will be taken to the church onThursday to lie in state from 12:00 o'clock Noon and until the time ofservices. The Vigil for the Deceased will take place Wednesday eveningat 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
